Short project description:
General aim:
Detailed knowledge of the load of the psychotherapeutic work with depressive patients and of succesfull coping strategies used by psychotherapist will contribute to the psychohygiene and prevention of burn-out syndrome.
Research method:
Ø Qualitative research method - Grounded Theory (Glaser, Strauss)
Data collection:
Ø Semi-structured interviews with psychotherapists working with depressive patients
Ø Focus groups of psychotherapists working with depressive patients
Research questions:
Ø How psychotherapists experience therapy with depressive clients?
Ø What coping strategies are used by psychotherapists during the work with depressive clients?
Project goals:
Ø Detailed description of characteristics of therapeutic relationship with depressive patient as it is experienced by psychotherapist
Ø Identification of succesfull coping strategie used by psychotherapist in this relationship

2008 – collecting data and relevant literal resources
2009 – analyzing data and writing theoretical part of the research project
2010 – building grounded theory, completing dissertation paper, publishing articles
